Meetings
visual Arts Center
When and Where
Meetings are held on the third Tuesday evening of each month at the Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts, 400 E. Hickory at Bell in Denton, Texas. Non-members may attend twice as guests. Meetings are free to members, except for non-members when a nationally known speaker is presenting (there is a $5 charge). A social time with snacks and drinks provided by members begins at 6:30 PM with the meeting starting at 7 PM.

What to Bring to the Meeting
If you’re already a member, bring your membership card. Don't forget to bring your name tag, so we all know who you are. It may get a bit chilly in the center, so bring a sweater or lap quilt in case you get cold. We love to share our work, so bring your latest project for Show & Tell, or that quilt you found at a yard sale for an unbelievable deal. Remember to return your guild library books that you checked out last month. And if your last name is in the rotation, bring a favorite snack to share with the other members.

When You Arrive
The welcoming committee is waiting for you when you arrive. Please sign in first with our hospitality hostess and let her know if you are a guest, or would like to become a new member. Each month members who wear a handmade nametag sign in for a chance to win door prizes at the end of each meeting. Be sure to visit all the committee tables to either sign up for the next Continuing Education class or to attend Retreat, or to pick up a Kid Kwilts kit to make a child's donation quilt.

Social Time
Each month prior to the start of the meeting, social time begins at 6:30 PM. Members are asked to bring refreshments based on their last name. The newsletter publishes the names each month, so you will know when it’s your turn to bring something. During this time you can also visit the guild library in the East Wing of the center; peruse the speaker's items for sale; turn in the raffle tickets you sold; and visit with your guild friends.

The Program
The president opens the meeting at 7 PM. Announcements and board member updates are presented first. Then the evening’s program begins, which usually lasts approximately 1 hour. Programs are often presented by local experts, as well as nationally acclaimed quilters. During the year, in place of the program, the guild may hold an auction, or have a garage sale, or an artisan's sale, and, every December, we have a holiday dinner and host the Kid Kwilt Challenge.

Show & Tell
Following the formal program, the floor opens up to all members who want to show their quilts and tell us about them. This is often people’s favorite part of the meeting and it’s a chance to see the work of Denton Quilt Guild’s many talented quilters. Please note that there is no Show & Tell during the month(s) that the guild holds an auction, garage sale, or artisan's sale, and in December.
