About the DQG
The Denton Quilt Guild was formed in 1982 to preserve the heritage of quilting, to be a source of information and inspiration, to perpetuate a high quality of excellence in quilt making and related arts, and to be a gathering of people with a common interest.
Our guild is home to over 200 members, each bringing their own unique quilting interests, backgrounds, and skill levels. From national award-winning artists to brand-new beginners, our community is as diverse as it is welcoming. Our members’ passions span a wide range—from fabric painting and historical quilts to collecting Asian textiles and upcycling vintage materials into garments and accessories. There’s a place for every quilter here!
Membership is open to any individual who has an interest in quilting, and guests may visit twice before joining. Members receive a monthly newsletter, a membership directory (published in May each year.) Members have use of the extensive quilt book library, and enjoy monthly meetings, workshops, classes, and special events.
Our membership year runs from April 1 through March 31. Dues are currently $35 per year.

Our monthly meetings are the heart and soul of the Guild. New members and visitors are welcome to attend our monthly meeting, usually held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center in Denton.

Workshops and Retreats
Our speakers often teach a workshop on the day following their talk. Learn directly from the experts – find new ideas and techniques while you build your quilting skills. For more details or to register for an upcoming workshop, contact us at DQGWorkshops@gmail.com.
The guild also runs three retreats a year: an overnight retreat and two day retreats. Along with the quilting, there’s plenty of time to chat, play games, finish up those UFOs or start that special new project.
The retreats are normally held at BoxCar Quilts. For more details or to register, contact us at DQGRetreats@gmail.com.
Bees
Ours is a large guild, over 200 members with a wide range of quilting interests. Outside of the regular meetings, many of our members get together for special interest quilting bees at other times throughout the month.
These small, friendly groups bring together members who share a love for a particular style, technique or purpose— Quilts of Valor, handwork, outreach quilting and more. They’re a great way to dive deeper into your favorite kind of quilting (or learn something new) while enjoying the company of fellow quilters. Whether you’re swapping tips, sharing your latest project, or just enjoying good company, the Bees are all about creativity, connection, and a whole lot of quilting joy.
Outreach
The Denton Quilt Guild is proud to support our community through a variety of charitable outreach projects. From our long-standing Kid Kwilts program, which provides hundreds of quilts each year to local children in need, to our Storybooks and Quilts To Go initiative that pairs themed quilts with children’s books, our members use their talents to bring comfort and joy. We partner with local organizations like Community Partners of Denton County, Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home, CASA, and many others to reach those who need it most.
Our QOV Bees create Quilts of Valor and lap quilts for veterans, while new efforts like the CPS Graduating Seniors program extend our impact even further. Members also contribute to ad hoc projects such as nap blankets for preschools, and handmade items for nursing homes and military families.
