Terry has been quilting for over 30 years. He started with very traditional techniques (hand piecing, hand applique, and hand quilting), then transitioned to machine art quilts. He eventually achieved all the criteria to be in the Master’s category for quilt show entries.
In 2006, he was invited to participate in a national exhibit titled “Men of Biblical Proportion” that traveled the country from 2005-2007.
In 2009, he was invited to participate in Quilt Mania II, in an exhibit titled “Men of Biblical Proportion,” which traveled the country from 2005 to 2007.
In 2009, he participated in Quilt Mania II, in an exhibit titled “Men of the Cloth in Dallas, along with three other male quilters.
In 2015, he and his wife were featured in the French publication, Cronique Patchwork. Eventually, he returned to his traditional roots and started a 26-month journey to create the English paper pieced millefiori quilt pattern by Katja Marek.
In 2018, it was in the Millefiori Special Exhibit at the Texas Quilt Museum in LaGrange, Texas, featuring twelve millefiori quilts from quilters around the country.
Terry Mosher has a 30 year history of quilting and other forays into fabric manipulation including teaching sashiko, the Japanese method of decorative surface stitching. In this workshop, he’ll take us into the world of this beautiful traditional needle art.

An entertaining digital PowerPoint presentation showing the process of making pictorial quilts using Cynthia’s “Picture-piecing” technique. Enlarging the design, fabric selection, and organizational methods are discussed in detail. A question and answer session to follow.
Picture Piecing is a unique technique that Cynthia developed to achieve detailed quilt imagery. Many quilters assume it is just another name for paper piecing or foundation piecing, but Cynthia’s approach is much more!
While similar to these techniques in that it uses paper and straight seams, Picture Piecing has several differences, allowing quilters to achieve detailed imagery more efficiently, with less frustration and fabric waste.
Cynthia’s most popular class… choose from two small landscapes kits. Both are 19″ X 17″. No tracing involved; templates are preprinted onto freezer paper. Fabric selection, organizational skills and construction methods will be addressed in class. Sewing machines and irons required.

Tonya Littmann has been a member of the Denton Quilt Guild since 1988 and on the board since 1996. She is an artist and graphic designer living in Denton with her husband Jon and a lively Golden Retriever named Abby. Her art quilts reflect her love of design, fiber art, and sewing. When she was a little girl, she loved to paint and make doll clothes and knew art would be her career. As an adult her art interests moved from ceramics and watercolor to creating with fabric. Tonya’s award-winning art quilts represent her interest in experimenting with dye, ink, paint, and stitching on fabric.
Tonya will present a trunk show and slide show with examples of the methods she uses to create her pictorial quilts.
Challenge: Make a cartoon caricature portrait (of yourself or someone else if preferred)
The event image examples were provided by our own Emanda Johnson, one of your workshop teachers!
Our Challenge workshop was a huge success so we are doing it again! Sher and Emanda have agreed to teach a second workshop on Wednesday, June 18. If you were on our waiting list you have first priority and are already signed up.
(You may pay the $5 fee at guild or the day of the workshop.)

The information provided below applies to the workshop but is also a handy reference if you are planning to work at home on your own. Attending a workshop is not necessary to participate in our Guild Challenge!

Templates for basic face shape, hair styles, neck and shoulders, plus facial features will be provided (from Quilter’s Yearbook by Amy Bradley Designs). You can use the templates or adapt them or make your own.
Workshop time is sufficient to construct the face and begin quilting the piece. This is a fun, creative process without boundaries or restrictions. No quilt Police!
Materials List: You’ll need a 16” x 20” background foundation to build your portrait. This can be a single whole piece of fabric or a patchworked background. Think of contrast between background and face/hair. White face, white hair, on white background will not be effective.
- Fabrics or face/neck – skin tone or other suitable fabrics do not need to be a solid color, light batiks, pale tone on tones, some patterned prints may work well. Fabrics for hair – solids or prints, fussy cut images or novelty prints.
- Bits and pieces for glasses, shirt tops/collars, accessories.
- Fusible web, approximately 1/2 yd. Backing and lightweight batting.
- Neutral threads for simple channel quilting the piece.
- Black thread for outlining main features after quilting.
- Black fabric pen for highlights and drawing facial features.
- Sewing machine and all your favorite cutting tools.
- Small sharp scissors are a must.
- Small iron and ironing pad if you have one.
- Boxes of scraps will be provided for your scavenging pleasure.

Sandy is a friend of many in the guild, and a talented quilt artist. She has designed fabric for Moda and a large selection of quilt patterns. At our July meeting, she’ll bring her presentation: “Quilting Through the Decades”.
July’s speaker, Sandy Brawner, will be teaching us the fun and versatile Bullseye Block.
In order to feel successful in class have AT LEAST 4 each of your background, small, medium and large squares cut out and ready to sew. You will learn how to cut the circles first thing Wednesday morning. This will allow you to get enough blocks sewn together to play with the pieces and choose the setting of your quilt.
• 3 1/4 yds of assorted prints for backgrounds (48) 9” X 9” squares
• 2 1/2 yds of assorted prints for large circles (48) 8” X 8” squares
• 1 1/2 yards of assorted prints for medium circles (48) 6” X 6” squares
• 3/4 yard of assorted prints for small circles (48) 4” X 4” squares
• 1/2 yard inner border (opt.)
• 1 yard outer border
• Thread to match or contrast with your circle fabrics and also to sew blocks together.
• Sharp scissors
Any setting that works for drunkards path blocks will work for a bullseye block. There are SO many! There are a few ideas below. Every block in the first photo is suitable.
This website has a lot of ideas for settings:

Our December DQG programs are always our wonderful year-end Christmas Party, and 2025 is no exception!
Snack Table committee provides the main courses (this year, it’s Turkey & Gravy, and Cheese enchiladas!) Members bring everything else! This year, the Snack Table wizards have created a Sign Up Genius so we can make sure there’s a great variety of other dishes – if you have a favorite dish that isn’t covered on the sign-up list, just sign up at the bottom, under “Other”!
Here’s the list:
Also, this year, we’re supporting Our Daily Bread – we’re collecting:
• men’s underwear (especially size 3X /4X),
• women’s underwear (especially size small) and
• disposable razors
If you have a chance to pick up one or two of those items, it’s an extraordinarily good cause, especially now that the weather has gotten truly cold!
See you there!
The New Members Bee is on a break for the December holiday season – please check back in January!

Minding My Ps&Qs
(5800 N Interstate 35 #401 Denton, TX 76207)Over the years, many of you have asked me how I design my art quilts. Here’s a class I’ve developed to walk you through the process. I will be teaching you how to design art quilts and visualize traditional quilts using your iPad or Android tablet with easy apps.
These apps have free or inexpensive versions in both the Apple Store and the Google Play Store. Please have these already downloaded to the device you will be using for the class.
You will also need to bring a stylus that works with your device, I use an iPencil with my iPad.
Also, have images you would like to play with and a photo of a traditional block both stored in your photo app.
Genius Scan – squares up wonky photos
Mematic – is my most favorite, it builds collages there’s a free version, but I use the paid version because I use it so much
Paint By Number Creator – is perfect for making patterns from photos for art quilts
Pencil Sketch – is for manipulating images from photos
ChatGPT – is new to me, but I have used it to remove background in photos, change colors, clean up old photos, and more
Value Study – is optional, you can change values in the photo app that comes with your phone.
This class is only $5 and the fee goes to the guild, not me. If you are interested, contact Karen Crozier.
Space is limited.
